Become a Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer!

Volunteers assist members of the community by providing the following services:

Social Companionship
Walking Companionship
Transportation
Reading
Decluttering and Organizng
Help with Errands
Minor Home Repairs
Gardening/Yard Work
Basic Computer Assistance

The first step is to set up an interview with Kristyn Laver, our Coordinator of Volunteers and Community Programs. Kristyn can be reached at 250 388 7844 ext. 308 or klaver@jbcp.bc.ca.

During your interview Kristyn will talk with you about how your interests, skills and availability would best be applied to a volunteer position. This is also your opportunity to ask questions and about the volunteer opportunities available.

You will then have to get a Criminal Record Review. Kristyn will give you instructions on how to complete the Criminal Record Review online. These are mandatory for all volunteers working with seniors and adults living with disabilities. Reviews are free for volunteers.

Once your interview, screening and Criminal Record Review are complete, Kristyn will provide an on-site orientation and connect you with the Outreach Worker who will set up your participant match.
