The transportation program provides drives to seniors to vital medical appointments and minor errands. This is a continuing program with drivers always needed.
Do I need a special drivers license?
A Class 5 licence is needed, along with a Driver’s Abstract. You can obtain the abstract (which shows when your original licence was issued and any driving offences from the last five years) from a Driver Licensing Office.
Do I use my own car?
Yes, you will drive your car, and need to keep it in good repair. We can reimburse you for mileage.
Do I need special insurance?
You will need to carry $2 Million Third Party Liability insurance.
Do I have to stay at the medical appointment with the client?
In some situations it will be helpful to stay with the client, but usually, once you have escorted them to the office you are free to leave and return later.
How much time do I have to commit every week?
Even one drive a week will make a huge difference in the participants life. Most appointments are scheduled for a 2 hour block to give you time to pick up the participant, drive them to the appointment, and then make the return trip home.
